Subject:Japanese Bunro [?] Print identification/translation
Posted By: Tom Aspden Sun, Dec 20, 2020 IP: 146.199.136.162

Hi, I have this print that is supposedly by Bunro, according to an inscription on the back, and I hoped somebody might be able to confirm this?
Regards,
Tom

My reading of inscriptions,
(Alternative kanas are transcribed into modern kanas)
勢法のお合イ手並代 忠身棲忠仁
おにがおえの筆代
やわらげに投し けん相
文浪畫

Seihō no o-ai tenami-dai tadami-zumi tada omoiyari
O nigao-e no hitsudai
Yawarage ni nageshi kensō
Bunrō-ga

The well matched fee for fencing performance is free lodging and compassion
The fee for a caricature is a softly thrownaway uncanny look
Picture of Bunrō

With regards,
I.Nagy

Thanks very much for your time I. Nagy! I hadn't thought about fencing or martial arts with this print before, you've been very helpful.

Regards,
Tom
