Subject:Chinese Snuff or Scent Jar Porcelain Blue and White
Posted By: Toby Reily Thu, Dec 17, 2020 IP: 83.100.188.234

I have recently inherited this small bottle, just short of 6cm tall. I was wondering if anyone knew anything about it? Someone has scribbled China on the underneath, it has a cork stopper that's incomplete. The scene depicts a boat and a lady on the shore.

Hi Toby,
Chinese, scent or medicine bottle. I think it is old from late Qing period.

This is a blue and white "Snuff bottle" where Chinese people used most during the Qing Dynasty, to contain powdered tobacco.
It supposed to have a stopper with jade or other precious stone connected with a tiny spoon that you can get the "tobacco" out.

This one is quite unusual due to the fact it's square form other than round, which is harder to make in the past.

Very nice color of the blue glazed, It's from the 19th c in my opinion.

With Regards,

Joe K.
