Posted By: Bill H Tue, Nov 17, 2020 Your plate has Chinese classic rose medallion decoration of a type exported to the west circa 1875. Its form exhibits a low beveled foot rim with countersunk base and a modicum of kiln grit on the inner foot, all typical characteristics of the period. The painted reserves within 'scroll motive' borders also are typical of this very popular rose medallion type. Here's an unusual cup & saucer set in the same pattern but painted on French Haviland & Company porcelain blanks which were sent to China from Limoges. |
