Subject:Help with identifying and reading this teapot markings
Posted By: Rachel Mon, Nov 09, 2020 IP: 82.24.222.12

Hi

I was wondering if anyone would be able to help me identify / read these markings on the bottom of a beautiful teapot given to me by my Aunt. I have tried to research the markings / and the teapot via the internet but to no avail. I have no idea whether it is Japanese (first thoughts) or Chinese? Any help would be very much appreciated. Thank you for your time.

It is Japanese
日本東京 - Nihon Tōkyō - Japan Tōkyō
濤川製 - Namikawa-sei - Made by Namikawa
十二 - 12
Presumably painted by Namikawa Sosuke 濤川惣助 1847-1910 famous cloisonne artist.

With regards,
I.Nagy
