Subject:Chenghua Vase
Posted By: Peter Mon, Nov 09, 2020 IP: 178.115.129.175

Hello,

I recently came across this Chenghua-type vase. Although it has been used as a lamp, the base has not been drilled (external cable).

I automatically assumed it to be 19th Century, but would be grateful for the opinion of you experts out there as to whether it could even older (ie C18th).

Many thanks in advance.

Peter

This type of crackle-glaze vase with faux bronze embellishments and incised Chenghua mark was made around the Qing Guangxu reign (1875-1908) or a bit later.

Best regards,

Bill H.
