Subject:Old Japanese papers in Japanese bento box
Posted By: John T. Sun, Oct 25, 2020 IP: 2a01:cb05:8362:5000:

Hi,

I have this old Japanese bento box. I found these papers which were used to wrap it.

I'm not sure however if they're related to the box or just well... Wrapping paper?

Any clues would be much welcome.

Thanks in advance.

Regards!

John,

Yes, it looks like the original wrapping paper of the lacquered (bento)-box.
Rubber stamp mark (left),
別上印 - Separate mark
別撰 - Separate selection
國産漆器 - Domestic produced lacquer ware
御xx尊師 - Master xx (Unfortunately two characters are illegible because of the creasing)
加位冨屋 - Elevated status shop Tomiya

The bold brush written two characters:
高砂 - Takasago
(Name of a city in Hyogo Prefecture,

Right side,
An addresse in the same Takasago city.

With regards,
I.Nagy
