Subject:Help needed with a teapot
Posted By: sylvia Sun, Oct 25, 2020 IP: 97.125.254.58 Hello, I need help please with a teapot that I have. It has rust and burst bubbles in the paint and there are some areas where the ceramic it sank and made some small cracks. I do not know if it is a canton or not. I would like to know when it was made. Thank you so much!

Posted By: Bill H Sun, Oct 25, 2020 It's definitely the Canton pattern, with the signature 'cloud & rain' border ringing the top of the pot below where the lid rests. Decoration is neater than average. my Schiffer book on 'Chinese Export Porcelain' indicates that this style of pot' was manufactured from the mid-19th century onward. I don't have a Canton pot like it but show below a rose medallion armorial pot of the same shape, which I've read was modeled on an English silver teapot.
