The design bordering the rim looks to be Japanese, and the decoration appears to feature Buddhist immortals called 'Rakan' in Japan, which the Chinese call 'Luohan'. They have achieved enlightenment and pending further advancement toward Buddha status, have caretaking or guardian functions for the faith. Your wee tea wares probably are Meiji-period (1868-1912) I'd think. Here's a Japanese 'sharkskin' (Coralene-type glaze) jar of mine with similar figures.

Best regards,

Bill H.
