Subject:very colourfull Chinese/Japanese ginger jars
Posted By: richard Tue, Oct 13, 2020 IP: 81.148.187.162

Hi all, could any one tell me anything about these colourfull ginger jars and the markings to the base?
Colours seem to be very bright and deep, compared to some of the ginger jars that are for sale. Patterns and colouring also seem to be by different artists? Sorry I don't know much about these Chinese or Japanese jars. The little jar with flowers has ...Kyoto on its base, so I assume a Japanese jar?
Anyway any information about these jars and stamps to the base are appreciated.
Stay safe Richard

All the jars with a brown mark are Chinese so- called Nanking ware. You might compare the marks with the ones on this website:

to get some info about age. Looking at the bright colors I don't think most of these are very old.
The one with Kyoto is Japanese Kyo-yaki ware, mid 20th century.
Regards,
Martin.
