Any information on tea cup and saucer - see pictures?

I cant read the mark, but the rest looks Japanese, possibly Meiji (1868-1912).

I've only traveled briefly in Japan, so have no particular skills at identifying architecture from porcelain paintings. But your cup and saucer set is identifiable as Japanese from the border treatment, which is something I've seen before.

Katō Shunkō 加藤春光 1st gen. date of birth and death unknown,
2nd gen. 1881-1958
1st gen, founded a kiln in Seto. Introduced the casting molding method in Seto prior to other Japanese potteries. Later joined the Morimura group, which ultimately set up Noritake.

Thanks to Martin's identification of the Melboune World Fair Exhibition Building, we may say with certainity that your cup and saucer was made by the 1st gen. Katō Shunkō in 1880 for this exposition.

I forgot about the building,
It looks like the main exhibition hall at the 1893 Chicago World's Columbian Expo. A number of Japanese porcelain makers participated the Expo.

I tried to find some pictures of 1893 Chicago World's Colombian Expo.The palace on the saucer shows an arch with three griffons or similar. I did not see this arch on Chicago pictures. People walking on the square in front of the palace are walking randomly (not in or out of the arch - do not look like visitors of the exhibition). No guards in front of the arch. There are not match palaces with dome roof in Asia. Maybe it was manufactured for export in Europe and is showing some European building? However, the palace does not look very much European either. The male figure in the square which is wearing a hut is looking Asian or may be European. It looks like women on the picture are wearing paranja (veil, chador, yashmak). Maybe it is Indonesian, Malaysian, Turkish ... scene? What do you think?

Good morning boards. my first post here, although i have been reading and learning for some time. new to collecting, so have so much to learn and experience!

saw this thread and wanted to post my cup with "similar" design. very hard to make out signature. delicate eggshell porcelain. i also thought that it was a souvenir cup from a world fair, thought it was a vienna rotunda perhaps?! your thoughts and comments are greatly appreciated. thank you much, a

Martin, thank you. As to the building, I look at the arch with three griffons or similar and the height of the central dome and it does not really match the 1880 World Fair in Melbourne: The Royal Exhibition Building.
