Subject:Porcelain Maker Identification Assistance
Posted By: Bob Brainard Fri, Aug 21, 2020 IP: 184.54.170.74

I am looking for assistance identifying the age and maker of this enameled porcelain plate. I have attempted to research online and have been unable to identify the mark other than that 光 may read as "Ko". I am not familiar with this maker and wondered if anyone here knew of it. This particular plate is 7.5" in diameter and is part of a larger set. Thank you for your assistance.

The Kanji in the circle is "ko" 光.
Circle is in Japanese: Maru 丸.
So the mark is spelling: Maruko.
I think it was made in the 1920's / 1930's.

Sometimes marks of the Nikko 日光 company were also shortened with only "Ko" 光 in a circle, but I don't think this is a Nikko mark, because the (Nik)ko Kanji is written differently (cursive) in gold and the background of (Nik)ko in the circle is black or brown.
Regards,
Martin.
