Subject:Hard stone CAMBODIA head: French translation??
Posted By: Paul Wed, Aug 12, 2020 IP: 2600:8801:9700:234f:

7"stone Cambodian/Khmer head. I'm guessing first half of 20th Cent. Much better work than any recent souvenirs.
But the "French" inscription makes no sense. "Seulteur a Purjat" or "Seulteur d Purjat" or "Pursat / Puryat." Any ideas?

Also, what kind of stone? Not soft like soapstone.

Thanks

It's French with spelling and grammatical mistakes,
I read it,
Sculpteur a Pursat ( Sculpteur de Pursat)
Pursat is the name of a western province in Cambodia.

With regards,
I.Nagy

Thanks for the translation.
Looks like Pursat is still a center for marble sculpturing in Cambodia, and that this colored marble is unique to that region, at least in Cambodia.
Here's a quick 26-second video on the subject.
