Subject:Request help identifying mark on Chinese Plate
Posted By: Roger Sun, Jul 19, 2020 IP: 2601:281:c202:b68a:e

Hi All,
Here's another plate I recently purchased. It appears to have a Chenghua mark but I'm not sure of all the characters. I would greatly appreciate your thoughts on the piece. I think it's old but not 'Chenghua old'. Thank you!

The mark reads down and across from the top right as 'Da Ming cheng hua nian zhi' (大明成化年製), 'Made during the Chenghua Reign of the Great Ming Dynasty'.

This dish looks a bit like it may be Japanese in the Chinese style or perhaps was painted on Taiwan, which was a Japanese colony from 1895-1945.

Best regards,

Bill H.
