The signature is of Shibata Gitō (1780-1819)

Shibata Gitō　柴田義董　1780-1819
Painter of the Shijō school in late Edo period.
Born in Bizen Provice in a wealthy family. From childhood learned painting from Matsushima Goshun, the founder of Shijō school.Worked in Kyōto. He was good in painting portraits. landscapes, flowers and birds.
