Subject:Please help with translation of the mark
Posted By: Tony Wed, Jul 01, 2020 IP: 98.152.172.26

Dear friends,
It is the mark at the bottom of a vase I posted a few days ago.
Could you please help me with the meaning of the last (bottom left) word and, if possible, with the impressed mark that is next to it?
Thank you so very much !!!
Tony

乾隆年制 - Made during the Qianlong reign years

Qianlong (title of reign 1736-1795 of the 4th emperor of the Qing Dynasty)

An apocryphal mark.

With regards,
I.Nagy

Dear I. Nagy and mikeoz,
Thank you very much both for your time and kind help with the mark !!!
I now have learned of the "short" form of the word "MADE" in the Qianlong reign mark :)
Best,
Tony

The mark is a modern stamp claiming that your object was made in the QianLong era, which it wasn't.

The mark reads (Top right) 乹 Qian (bottom right) 隆 Long (top left) 年 Nian'year' (bottom left) 制 Zhi 'made', in a shortened form of the full character 製.
