Maybe I am wrong, but I read it,
勝川春雄 - Katsukawa Shunyu

Is this definitely the spelling of the artists last name. I can not find an artist with the same last name. I do however see similar drawing by the artist Katsukawa Shunyu
Thanks

Are you sure of the spelling of the last name ?
I found similar drawings by a Katsukawa Shunshô.
Could this be the artist ?
Thanks

You are correct. Your print is a modern reproduction of a Katsukawa Shunshô print. See the link below.

Dear Steve,
If you google up "Katsukawa school Wikiwand" you will find about 50 given art-name variations after
Katsukawa Shun.... 勝川春..... all were the members of the said school. You will find Shunyu, active 1805-1830 only. From these 50 Katsukawas I could find only Sunsho's and Shunchō's signature in my hand-library. Shunsho's signature is different. I tried only to read the signature.
according to the logic of the running script calligraphy, so I read it Shunyu 春雄 - maybe I was wrong. Their styles should of course be similar, they belonged to the same school.

With regards,
I.Nagy

Dear Stan,
On the subject I consulted with experts at a known print gallery in Tokyo. According to their opinion the signature is not Shunsho's (春章). They partly shared my opinion about Shunyu (春雄) reading, according to them it even can be read Shunsen (春扇). One thing is sure that the information on the net, let it be even from famous museums or known
galleries, auction houses etc, are nor always correct.

Dear I. Nagy,

"One thing is sure that the information on the net, let it be even from famous museums or known galleries, auction houses etc, are nor always correct."

I wholeheartedly concur. I defer to your research.

The other point I was making is, given the stylized reproduction quality and obvious newness of the print, it is just wall art.

Cheers,
Stan
