I'd say your jar probably was made in the waning days of the Republic Period (1912-49) and for domestic use or export to Southeast Asia as opposed to the West. In the following three photos, the first, with the goddess walking among children, is a large Western export quality jar, one of a pair made about 1920 and offered here with apologies for the rotten iPhone photo. The second is a 'minyao'(popular kiln) teapot with a quality of 'goddess riding Qilin' decoration just slightly above yours. And the last image is a melon jar, also roughly made, that also may have been for local consumption or Southeast Asia.

My early Republic pair of jars likely are purely decorative, while yours or the other two late Republic jars below could have contained ginger or another foodstuff or been used for kitchen storage, in my opinion.

Best regards,

Bill H.
