Subject:Chinese Export Famille Rose Dish - Date?
Posted By: Peter Mon, May 18, 2020 IP: 178.165.130.66

Hello,

I recently acquired a small Famille Rose dish, which, according to my subsequent research, is probably Chinese export ware.
The porcelain is a deep grey colour, in contrast to the whiteness of later pieces I own.
I would be grateful if any experts out there could suggest an approximate date of manufacture. Also, any further relevant information would be very much appreciated.

Your famille rose plate dates from the 1740-1760 period of Chinese export. Since the cavetto of the plate has diaper pattern work, it is probably from the earlier part of that range. Where ever you got the two plates, go back and buy more. Two very nice examples of Chinese porcelain production in mid 18th century.

Hello Plasticman,

Thanks for your valued opinion - it's much appreciated.
It looks like these were the only two plates that were on sale. Nevertheless, I am extremely satisfied and pleased to have bought just the two !

Regards,
Peter
