Hi there,

here is another chawan. It‘s supposed to be from Ashikaga but I‘m not familiar with ashikaga-yaki. Does anybody know the potter and can say something about the age? Thanks a lot.

Inscriptions on box,
足利焼  - Ashikaga-yaki
手びねり - Tebineri - Formed by hand
茶盌   - Chawan - Tea bowl
今井理桂 - Imai Rikei

Ashikaga takes the name of Ashikaga City in Tochigi prefecture. Where the kilns of the artist
Imai Rikei are found.

Imai Rikei 1948-
Started pottery in 1973 in Ashikaga. Between 1985 -89 built 3 kilns; Ǒryu, Hiryu, Garyu
In 2018 completed the construction of the world's longest (103 m) climbing kiln.
