Subject:Japanese Battle Scene Watercolor

I acquired this watercolor in the early 80s when i was a young man. It is so cool i had to buy it from a small gallery in Nyack, NY. I understand it tells an old Japanese fable about a battle on a bridge but dont know the details, I would appreciate it if someone can provide details or direct me to resources to investigate.
