Subject:Petit vase en porcelaine (Japanese or Chinese ?)
Posted By: Rodolphe Tue, May 12, 2020 IP: 109.88.141.199

Hello, I acquired this vase.
Could you help me tell me the meaning of the seal mark and also tell me if it is of Japanese or Chinese origin. Many thanks for your help.

This is Japanese Seto ware, perhaps 1900-1925.

The mark reads: Dai 大 Nippon 日本 Seto 瀬戸 xxxx Sei 製 (Great Japan Seto made by xxxx)

The name xxxx is probably Maruyoshi or Marukichi, the character Yoshi 吉 (Kichi) within a circle and circle is Maru (丸) in Japanese.

However, I'm not 100% sure about the name and date, perhaps one of the other experts can provide additional help with the name and the dating.

Regards,
Martin.
