Subject:Chinese scroll
Posted By: Diane Sun, May 10, 2020 IP: 81.158.92.241

I bought this lovely scroll in Xian about 25 years ago because I loved the look of the characters.
I was told it was a passage from a Buddhist text, but don't know what it says.

Please can anyone help?

Title,
般若心經 - Bore (Prajna) Heart Sutra
Name of a popular sutra in Mahayana Buddhism.

A clear readable picture from the colophon (Left last vertical line with the seal) would reveal the age, too.

With regards,
I.Nagy

Thank you so much - I have now been able to read the translation of this very profound sutra!
Are you able to tell me what the 2 red seals say, and also the first vertical line of characters?

The seal under the last vertical line reads,
淵民之印 - Seal of Yuanmin

Starting seal,
孝藝 - Filial Art

Zhai Yuanmin 翟淵民 1946-
Learned calligraphy at Henan Calligraphy Institute.
After retirement from the Commerce and Industry Bureau in 1997, moved to Xi'an for professional calligraphy practice and creating work. He is currently employed as full time calligrapher in Guangzhou Long's Painting and Calligraphy Auction Co.Ltd.

Aside from this, I wanted to see the last whole line of the inscription which contains the dating.

With regards,
I.Nagy
