Subject:Request help dating Chinese Jar
Posted By: Roger Fri, May 08, 2020 IP: 2601:281:c202:b68a:1

Greetings, I would greatly appreciate your thoughts on this Chinese Jar. I think the stamped mark is #1346 on the Gotheborg website (late 20th Cent.). Not sure. Thanks for looking!

You're correct. The mark, shown resting on its left side, reads 'Made during the Tongzhi Reign of the Great Qing Dynasty' when flipped 90 degrees right. In my opinion, the mark bears a great resemblance to other faux marks seen on the gotheborg.com Macao page but for the Qianlong Reign. Like the Macao products, your jar is decorative transfer ware, no older than the late 20th century.

Best regards,

Bill H.
