Subject:Clay statuette - who is it?
Posted By: Doug Anderson Sun, May 03, 2020 IP: 2607:fea8:5b00:12ba:

I have this brown clay statuette. The person appears to be dressed in academic robes and has a scroll in one hand. The other hand is clenched behind his back. There is a Chinese inscription on the pedestal.
Can anyone identify him and tell me what the inscription says?

It is the statuette of Lu Xun 1881-1936,the leading figure of modern Chinese literature.

Inscriptions,
横眉冷對千手指
俯首甘為孺子牛
魯迅
Fierce-browed, I cooly defy a thousand pointing fingers.
Head bowed, like a willing ox I serve the people.
Lu Xun

Citation from him

With regards,
I.Nagy
