Subject:Japanese Iron/Bronze Gold inlay small inlay dish- help with makers mark
Posted By: Isaac Peat Sun, Mar 22, 2020 IP: 144.124.211.191

Hi All,

I have a very small gold inlaid Iron/Brass Japanese dish from the Meji period in a fan shape. Item was probably purchased during the mid to late 19th century.

I'm curious about the object and would love to know of any uses of the object. Any symbolism on the object and what it may have been used for ? All would be of great help.

There is also what I believe to be a makers mark on the reverse of the object which is slightly rusted over/damaged. It would be of particular interest to know what this means and to find a maker for the object or where it might have been made etc.

Thanks all in advance. Please let me know if you need more information or photos.

Thank you very much for your response its very much appreciated. I had wondered whether it might be a Komai of Kyoto. Thank you for confirming for me.
