Subject:two small Japanese boxes
Posted By: manuD Sat, Feb 29, 2020 IP: 2a01:e34:edc9:7c50:8

Can you tell me what the first two small boxes are, how old they might be, and if they are collector's items?

I was told that the top one is a tabako-ire, but havent found any tabako-ire resembling the two displayed. I found on an auction site (bottom image) what is described simply as a small chest made of two-colored sentoku, decorated in takagozan fashion by birds, and is dated around 1900.

Could the metal of the first two boxes also be sentoku? The takagozan looks more like it is made of copper. And could they be much more recent than 1900? Their manufacture certainly looks less sophisticated.

Any comments welcome.
