Posted By: STEVE Fri, Feb 28, 2020 IP: 67.85.41.141

Just bought this Asian Yellowish / White Asian Statue of a Female
It is 15 inches High and appears to be Hand carved
It is marked on the back and it is hollow
Any help on the country it was made in , what it is made of and it's age would be very helpful
Thanks in advance

Hi,

That statues looks like a typical Chinese/Japanese okimono. It's hard to say what it's made of from those photos but it looks like it might be made out of resin and a copy of older pieces.

A good way to check if it's resin as opposed to bone or ivory is to take a pin or a needle, heat it until it's red hot and then touch the statue in a discrete place where nobody will notice (say underneath). If it bubbles/melts and smells like plastic then it's resin.
