Subject:Imari 3 ID & Age
Posted By: Charles Ackerman Sun, Feb 23, 2020 IP: 45.72.222.92

This is the third of 3 plates I have posted, and all are without markings. Two of them have what appears to have somewhat worn gold leaf inserted on the flower petals.

I would certainly appreciate it if someone could please educate me to;
a) Country of origin &
b) Approximate age

Thanks so much!

All three of the plates in this series are Chinese Imari, made for export during the early-to-mid Qianlong Reign (1736-95), in my opinion. It's my impression that earlier Kangxi and Yongzheng period Chinese Imari plates typically had decoration on the underside of the outer rim.

See Example below, an 8.5-inch plate of the Kangxi period (1663-1722).

Best regards,

Bill H.

My sincere thanks for the information Bill.

All the items I've posted have been passed down through the generations from my Dutch ancestors who I knew where notorious traders within the oriental region. While it seems there is little actual financial value to any of my postings, the wealth lays in their heritage.

Without benefit of their assistance to enlighten myself on them, only now at my advanced age, have just commenced to learn what I can about them for the benefit of those who follow me.
