Today I have bought this tiny carved jade boulder, measuring 2.75" of height and 1,2" width.

It is brown jade (I think, and it was described as) and looks like a cappuccino brown or toffee brown.
From an antique dealer in Germany.
Now, as I don't know very much about jade, I am very interested to know how old it could be? And where the jade comes from?

I like it very much, because it is tiny, and I think the quality of the carving is not that bad in relation to the little dimensions.

I have read some text. On the carving is shown a dog. Could this may be the black dog "tiangou" and what is the one person next to another in front holding, it looks like a lantern, shall this represent a moon? But there is also the moon in the sky to see.

Your delightful looking Boulder is probably serpentine rather than nephrite jade. You will note the scratches revealing white patches along the dull like appearance consistent with serpentine.
I also think this is fairly modern and based on a scholars rock.
The quality of carving is just so so.

I would guess it could be probably more the tianhuang stone, in a cararmel brown tone like this one, not very much yellowish:

The Tianhuang stone is from Nacrite, and the name tells yet that this stone has a pearly or mother-of-pearl shine.

If the picture does not turn up reflections, then the stone looks like this shine, or not what do you think? But I will see when it arrives to me.
