Dear Shawn,
This letter was signed with Roman letters "Ya Ming".
Chinese painters usually sign their works with Chinese characters. This is the reason you cannot find the same signature online.
This is one side of the coin, but I have the feeling that the letter itself has been forged in order to sell more fake pictures to American tourist visiting Guiling area in the 80's.
I just checked out the "Dictionary of 20th Century Chinese Calligraphers' and Painters' Seals and Signatures - 2001 Ed. 2 vols." (二十世紀中国書画家印款辞典)p. 872-874 on my bookshelf and found a total of 43 seal marks and 9 signatures from Yaming (Ya Ming), but none of the four seals above are included in it.

By the way the reading of the seals in the letter are;
Old ones, 亞民画印 亞民蔵画
New ones, 亞民 (from left to right) 亞民
Furthermore, the cut of these seals are inferior to the seals included in the dictionary.

Yaming (Ya Ming) 亞明 1924-2002、born in Hefei, Anhui province. His original surname and given name was Ye Jiabing 葉家炳. Latter assumed the art name Yaming.

With regards,
I.Nagy

Thank you so much l .Nagy dose this mean that yawing (Ya Ming) 亞明 1924-2002、born in Hefei, Anhui province,is not the same artist of the ink drawing or both the ink drawing and the letter are fake ? They did come together.

Dear Shawn,

Meanwhile, I have checked over a hundred Yaming pictures on the Chinese language artso.artron.net auction sites, as conclusion I can say,
1, In all of his signatures the first 亞 (Ya) character is written in the traditional style and not in the simplified style as on your ink painting.
2, I haven't found any of the seals shown in the letter.
Thereafter, only one conclusion seems to be the most plausible,- that both the letter and the ink painting are fakes.

With regards,
I.Nagy

Thank you for your time and info Nagy, it’s been very appreciated. At least it’s been a interesting short term subject ,maybe I’ll frame the envelope, letter and painting ,title it as “The Forgery ” just a reminder and conversation piece .All the best for you and family in 2020!
