Posted By: Roger Fri, Dec 13, 2019 IP: 2601:281:c202:b68a:9

Hi All,
I would greatly appreciate any help reading the Kanji on this bronze container. I think it's Chinese. Thanks much!

Here are the readings of Chinese Hanzi-s on the container, with good wishes for new year.
吉慶有餘 - Auspicious happiness in overmeasure

Fish is being held by a male child while the other
holds firecrackers in his hands.
The word fish (yu 魚) has the same pronunciation as (yu 餘, which means "extra" - extra money, harvest, and happiness in the new year.
Firecracker is to scare off evil spirits and misfortune in the new year.
Embossed seal,
鼎元 - Dingyuan

納福迎祥 - Welcome auspicious blessings

Children are catching bats and ramming them into a big jar. The five bats represent the Five Blessings; health, wealth, long life and virtue.
Bats, because "bat" (fu 蝠) and the wish for "good fortune and happiness" (fu 福) share the same sound.

Embossed seal,
主秋庭 Zhu Qiuting

With regards,
I.Nagy
