Subject:Painting signatures marks
Posted By: Melinda Seifert Fri, Dec 13, 2019 IP: 24.153.181.162

Hello, I have two paintings I believe are from the 20th / 21st century. I would really like to know the era and what the signatures / or marks mean. Any information would be helpful! I will post each one separately.
Thank you,
Melinda

Another modern New Year Picture, overdecorated with a lists of symbolics,
1, Lotus root, stands for abundance, its holes represent a mind open to new ideas.
2, Big coin, Cash, being a symbol of prosperity, popular as ornament.
3, Lucky coins tied with a ribbon - same as above
4, Money bearing tree, - an inexhaustible supply of money
5,Deer antler, in the Chinese culture is an another symbol for longevity The Chinese character
for deer is 鹿 which is pronounced "lu". The Chinese character 禄 which refers to the salary a government official receives, is also pronounced "lu".
6, Vases, 瓶 "ping" the word vase sounds much like the 平 "ping" for "peace"
etc.

Inscription;
大富貴 - Great wealth and high rank

With regards,
I.Nagy

Thank you for the information. So much more than I knew before! Do you have any idea whether these are original paintings--and when they might have been done? Just so curious.
Best,
Melinda
