Subject:Japanese fo dog print
Posted By: Tom Aspden Sat, Dec 07, 2019 IP: 31.205.13.20

I bought this print, with no information about it, and I was hoping I could have a translation of the signature, and perhaps a guess on what the writing on the right says. I know that half of the characters are missing, but I wondered if they would be reproduced in other pieces. Also I am aware that the two characters at the bottom right translate to 19.

Thanks, Tom

The inscription is not a signature, it reads,
彫物状 - Horimono-katachi - Carving form
The two characters on the bottom right could be,
一 右 - One right, or 一 左 One left
Anyway, what I can see is 一 ナ
The situation is the same with the upper characters.
Probably a leaf from engravers' or carvers' sample collection.

With regards,
I.Nagy

Thank you I.Nagy,it is as I expected with the characters on the side, but thanks for the translation of the inscription!
