The mark reads: Dai 大 Nihon 日本 Takitö 滝藤 Zo 造 (Great Japan made by Takitö), with a sloppy 本 "hon" Kanji character.
Dai Nihon is written from right to left.
I have seen a few more marks of Takito, however I could not find info about Takito. All those marks as also yours are from circa 1900 on Kutani ware shipped from Yokohama to the West.
There is a possibility that these written marks are early marks of the Takito Company (1880-1948). I could not find prove of that and furthermore the Takito Company marked their wares With TT, see picture.
Regards,
Martin.

Hi I was wondering if the pottery would be signed differently if it was one of the pieces in either the Palace of Fine Arts - At the Fair: 1904 World's Fair - Homestead or the 1893 Japan at the World's Fair: Colombian Exposition? I see he had pieces in both so is it possible he did some show pieces for that and could have been signed different? I see a lot of that company's pottery and they still mass produce it today and have him as the founder but it all seems on the cheap- non desirable side. Would this fall into that class or be more desirable if made by him not for mass production ? Sorry for the confusion but was hoping to get some insight after further researching it.

大日本滝藤造 - Dai Nihon Takitō-zō - Empire of Japamn, Made by Takitō
Takitō Manjirō 瀧藤萬次郎 was the name of a Nagoya based merchant who exported ceramics in Meiji era.

Pottery on the World Fairs were certainly signed differently, more extensive, with much more info.
That were often big show pieces to let the world know about the craftmanship of the Japanese artists.
Your signature is a common standard Kutani 5 character signature: Kutani on top and the potter or painter name underneath followed by "Sei" or "Zo" (made).
However, items signed with Takito like this are rare. I have seen 2 with "Nippon - Takito" and 3 with "Dai Nippon - Takito Zo", but up untill now not one like this. So cherish it.
Regards,
Martin.
