This is a Chinese late Qing or early ROC era medicine bottle.
Inscriptions,
姑蘇閶門内天庫前
誦芬堂雷
遮滴
*Gusu、 inside of Chang-gate (lane) in front of Tianku
Songfentang (Name of shop) Lei (Family name of owner)
Spread drop (?)

*Gusu, name of district in Suzhou

With regards,
I.Nagy

Dear Nagy,

Could it be that the bottle was for a medication and the instruction was to apply a drop of the medication and rub it into the afflicted area.

This suggestion is based on the fact that the instruction 遮滴 was hand written on the base. So probably not all of this shop's bottles would have had that added particular instruction.
