Subject:Japanese print, acquired late 1940s
Posted By: Simon Sat, Oct 26, 2019 IP: 90.255.206.78

I believe that my father bought this in Nagasaki in the late 1940s. He was posted there by the British army to help reconstruct the telephone system after the war. There is another similar print (I assume they are prints rather than original works).
I have been told that it may contain coded references to the atomic bombings - eg the domes on top of the huts might refer to the Hiroshima Prefectural Industrial Promotion Hall.
Sorry if this is far-fetched speculation! Any ideas or information very gratefully received.

Looks like a drawing or painting - not a woodblock print. In my opinion the story you heard is nonsense, Da Vinci code fantasy.
