Posted By: Kang Tue, Nov 22, 2005 Four character Qianlong mark. Usually found on Early Republic porcelain of fine quality, circa 1920. This is a thick enamel mark, well rendered, difficult to work with (flows like molasses in winter at that time). It is not normally used on low quality items, unless for a test item. |

Posted By: M Bown Thu, Mar 20, 2014 I have a vase with this mark on the base in red surrounded by a double square. It was given to my grandfather by a local chinese reastaurant as a thankyou present in the late 1950's (He was a policeman who helped them out with some racist vandals). We have no idea where it came from before that or of the age. Do you know anything about it? |

Posted By: Philip Hill Mon, Oct 22, 2018 Hi. I have a similar mark, but in blood red. Can anyone tell me if this item is likely to be old or have any value ? |

Posted By: Bill H. Tue, Oct 23, 2018 Sorry but not antique. It is a late 20th century product of a Chinese ceramic ornamentation factory, perhaps in Hong Kong or Macao, which used transfer printed motifs on porcelain blanks made in China. The Qianlong mark on yours is just part of the decoration. |

Posted By: Martin Michels Wed, Oct 24, 2018 This Qianlong mark is one of the most seen marks on all kind of Chinese ware in the 2nd half of the 20th century till even now. So no, it's not old. |
