Subject:Request your help identifying seal on print
Posted By: Roger Fri, Aug 09, 2019 IP: 2601:281:c202:b68a:8

Hello, I would greatly appreciate your help in identifying the mark on this print (or woodblock). It is very similar to Tanaka Royhei’ work. Thank you!

Your Japanese woodblock print is by Yoshida Toshi is titled "White Plum in the Farm Yard" and was printed in 1951.

Cheers,

Seal reads,
吉田遠志 - Yoshida Tōshi
The Japanese and English titles are hidden under the passe-partout.
白梅 - White Plum (in the Farmyard)
Date: 1951

Yoshida Tōshi 1911-1995
Born into an established family of ukiyo-e painters, his father Hiroshi was a landscape specialist. The son first specialized on animals, then became illustrator for children's
picture books.

With regards,
I.Nagy
