Subject:Help verifying plate
Posted By: Vincentius Lee Tue, Aug 06, 2019 IP: 139.228.79.137

Hi. Found an old plate in my cabinet and need to verify its origin and authenticity. Any help would be great. Thanks!

I'd say your dish is Chinese, with estimated date of manufacture from the late 3rd-early 4th quarter of the 20th century. The outline of the pattern appears to be quite evenly laid down, while the fill has been somewhat roughly daubed in, a characteristic of transfer decoration. A related observation applies to the Qianlong mark, which conversely has unusually well-formed characters, without the variances usually found in brushstrokes applied by hand. The foot also seems to be more 20th century in its form.

Best regards,

Bill H.

Hi! Thank you for the reply!
Does that mean the plate isn't originated from Qianlong dynasty? Which means that it doesn't have any historic value?
Been searching at google for a while for Qianlong mark and none show up like these in my plate.
Thank you!

The answers to your two questions are yes and yes; not from Qianlong era (1736-95) and no historical value. However, it does have modest decorative value.
