Subject:Large Dragon Yixing? Tea Pot Identification
Posted By: Nukfish Sat, Jun 15, 2019 IP: 2600:1700:3fd0:b410:

Found a really cool Dragon Tea Pot at an estate sale but cannot find anything even close to it on line. One person suggested it may be Yixing. Any information on it would be much appreciated. Also a couple questions:
It seems large to be a tea pot (15" to snout, 11" across and 10" high). I probably holds a couple liters. is there a special reason for so large a tea pot?
As can be seen it is quite dusty. What would be the best way to clean it?
Thanks for the help.

This tea pot is definitely not YiXing, and in fact does not even come from mainland China. It is a product of the JinTianTao kilns in Taiwan.

JinTianTao represents three generations of ceramic artists.

I suggest you start your research with that information.

JinTianTao in Chinese is 金田院。

Strange, I can find no references to the JinTianTao Kilns anywhere either as one word or three. Any other ideas?

thanks,

Perry
