Subject:Help find title and artist, Follow up...
Posted By: John J. Wed, Jun 12, 2019 IP: 2601:204:cf00:baf8:8

Dear Mr I. Nagy,

Thank you for the information regarding the artist of this scroll. On my previous message, I had only the signature, but indeed, it seems more relevant to post some of his artwork. So here it is, hopefully, the images will be able to help identify the artist ?

Sincerely,
John J.

Dear John,
Sorry, last time I was wrong with the reading of
signature and the relief seal. Correctly both read,
鉄岳 - Tetsugaku (Iron mountain) - Pseudonym
Intaglio seal,
疋田章 - Hikita Shō (Akira)

The only problem is that I can't find artist with this name neither in my ID dictionaries nor on the net. I'm not staying in Japan until the end of October, so I'm gonna cut off better-equipped librairies for further search. If you can't find the artist until October please contact me again.

With kind regards,
I.Nagy

I found an Japanese artist name as being Hikita Shosai. Is it possible that Hikita Sho is a diminutive of that name ?

Sincerely,
John J.

Dear John.
The names of Japanese painters are mostly art-names, and art-names do not have diminutive formes. therefore Hikita Shosai should be an entirely different artist.

With regards,
I. Nagy
