Posted By: Yura Thu, May 30, 2019 IP: 176.106.204.132

Dear forum members
I am tryling to identity this drawing
In my opinion, one of these three can be drawn here - 1) Laozi (老子, (ろうし)
2) Emperor Jimmu (神武天皇, (じんむてんのう)
3) Takemikazuchi (建御雷/武甕槌, (タケミカヅチ)
Hieroglyph at the top - 上
Signature may be: 英一 (Eiichi)......筆 (hitsu)?
or something like this
Thanks to anyone nwilling to help me

Dear Yura,
According to the legends the earliest ancestor of the Fujiwara clan 藤原氏、Fujiwara no Kamatari 藤原鎌足 arrived to the Kasuga Shrine on the back of a deer. Therefore the picture depicts him.
Signature reads,
英一蝶書筆 - Painted by Hanabusa Itchō

上 ‐ Simply means "Top"
It might have been the first character a longer
inscription, but it was cut off.

With regards,
I.Nagy
