The translucent drip glaze, feathered at the ends is a very dark green, almost black in some light. the pinkish stoneware, very old in appearance is decorated with very fine horizontal rings among larger coil ribs. The jar has an angular lip, and a round recess at the center of the foot. The appearance of the dirt all around the piece leads me to believe it is a dug piece, and is possibly Japanese in origin by the detailing, the dark green glaze and the pinkish stoneware.

In a comparison w/ the present example, the Sue ware jar in the link below, which dates to the 3rd -7th century as noted by the author, exhibits the same body character in structure w/ the wide girth at the middle, a tall angular neck.And, in close examination both examples show very fine miniature rows of lines on the horizontal, among the larger heavier coiled rows
