Subject:Your thoughts about very well painted Republic era? vase
Posted By: Yurike Wed, Mar 27, 2019 IP: 71.121.170.65

Acquired this vase recently. From research here and online, I have found that the mark reads Made for the Hall where Benevolence Resides - Jurentang Zhi for Yuan Shikai the Hongxian Emperor. The diameter is 14.25" widest, height is 7". It is very well painted by hand and is not a transfer ware piece. The white has a slight blueish tint. The mark is in iron red. Your thoughts and impressions are greatly appreciated. More detail pics to come. Thank you.

The mark isn't painted as well as the vase, which likely is a fairly recent production, in my opinion. Here's a jardinière and another vase, which if not period, were made only a few years after the Hongxian Emperor's death. Both are exquisitely decorated and bear Jurentang marks more in keeping with the times.

Best regards,

Bill H.

Hello, It is a reproduction. It is not of the quality for the Hall and the mark is crude. The glazes are also not correct. Sorry for the news.
