Subject:Rare Japanese Book?
Posted By: BL Mon, Feb 18, 2019 IP: 69.86.17.79

These pieces are in a very old and fragile book that I bought recently. The person who sold it to me said it was from the first half of the 19th century and that it was Japanese. There are 31 drawings on both sides of the page. All of them with the exception of the 1st one, which is included here, are black and white and I think may be done in ink. What is fascinating to me is that they look as though they could have been done in the 20th century. I would be happy to hear from anyone who could provide some information about this book.

It is not too rare.
It`s a sketchbook with nikushitsu-ga (original ink paintings on paper)
The scripts on pages 2 and 3 (upside down) are so whimsically cursive that they seem to be a trial of a new brush for the first time.
I think it`s over 100 years old.

With regards,
I.Nagy

Thanks I. Nagy for the information. One other person that I showed it to came up with the same conclusion.
