Subject:Shou Lao Statue

This porcelain statue is 22" tall and 11" wide. I haven't seen another like it in my searches. I am looking for any information about it and an idea of its worth. Thank you in advance.

I enlarged the mark just to make sure I was seeing what I think I see, which seems to be the Chinese number two (二, er) on the left of an Arabic 26 (or 25). If this is correct, then you likely have a late 20th or 21st century product.

The embedded link below shows a liveauctioneer.com result of $850 for what appears to be an identical sculpture which was labeled as Republic Period and which also has an Arabic factory number or numbers on the base. I still would contend that the Arabic numbers are more indicative of what the People's Republic refers to as the post-October 1949 "Liberation" (Jiefang) and "National Reconstruction" (Jianguo) era of the 1950s, when the early cooperatives that later became numbered factories were being established. The palettes of this period and later also varied somewhat from the Republic Period.

Best regards,

Bill H
