Subject:Help needed: Imperial cloisonné lotus jar??
Posted By: Myra Wed, Nov 28, 2018 IP: 77.170.249.58

Dear all,

I gladly would like to hear your view on the cloisonné lotus jar pictured. I see:
1) little black points;
2) basic colors plus pastel (pink, light-blue)
3) no mark
4) inside jar is dark blue
I'm studying former posts on the subject.
Feel free to share your opinion with me; thanks!
Best regards,
Myra

Not imperial and not cloisonné, but a vintage late 20th century above average example of enameled metal called "champlevé" (French for "elevated field"). Cloisonné is named after the wires that are laid down to form its pattern outlines, which are completely filled in with colored enamels to achieve the design.

Here's are two similar jars for a decidedly nonimperal price in an online mall.

Best regards,

Bill H.
