Subject:Curious about blue glazed fisherman

Hi, My Uncle has given this figurine to me and I guess its Japanese (as he had family connections from Japan). There are no makers marks.I know nothing about it and cannot find anything on the internet. It has a couple of firing flaws. any information about its origin age etc would be greatly appreciated.

Likely, this a statue Ebisu one of the Seven Gods of Fortune ('shichi fukujin'). See the Wikipedia link below.

Thank you for the reply. I think you are correct (I had not made the connection). He is growing on me, and I will have a go at making him a new fishing rod.
