Greetings!
This has been in my family since the 1930s. It looks like a scene from a story to me. I'd deeply appreciate any enlightenment you can offer regarding its origin, meaning, age, creator, calligraphy...

Inscription、
關雲   - Guan Yun (Correctly 關羽 Guan Yu)
長水淹七群 -  Drowning of the Seven Armies in the Yangtze River
香岩 - Fragrant Rock - Pseudonym
卞心 - Bian Xin - Name of artist
於雲正樓 - in Yunzheng Pavilion

I could not find any identification regarding the above painter.

Battle scene known from the 14th century historical novel "Romance of the Three Kingdoms". The floading of the Han (Yangtse River), planned by Guan Yu, thus drowning Cao Cao's armies in the lower plainsThis picture depicts the defeated general Pang De is rescued from a capsized boat.

Thank you so much for your reply! I'm very grateful for the information and your translation. It has led me to learning about the Romance of the Three Kingdoms for the first time, as well as a small bit of Chinese history.
