Subject:Mark on Yamatoku plate
Posted By: Martin Michels Thu, Oct 04, 2018 IP: 84.26.216.123

I found this transfer printed Yamatoku plate, but I can't figure out the signature in red. The impressed mark is Yamatoku in Katakana.

Has anyone an idea what the signature reads and the age of the plate.
Thanks in advance.
Martin.

Hi Martin,

This red markings reads probably "Banka" (alt. Bankou) wich is probably a shopmark. The impressed marking in this form (katagana characters) mostly appeared during the period 1910-1920.

Regards,
Arjan
